Restoration of old Dolmabahçe Transformator Center for as Rare Books Museum

The building was constructed as one of the few distribution facilities for the distribution of electricity produced at the Silahtar Ağa Electric Plant.
The main facade of the building changed with the new road opened on east facade which can be traced from the German Blue and Pervititch maps. In those maps the change in the original topography is obvious.
In the project, the non original adds was removed, the ground was improved by the screw pile method, the building is strengthened with steel cage housing new programs of library. The facade reflecting the period of the building has became the front facade once again. The service cores added to both ends of the steel cage provide vertical transportation and services, while on the other hand they offer a continuous exhibition between floors.
