Gelibolu Peninsula National Historic Site Competition
It is essential that those who will be made in order to live the memory of the martyrs should not overlook the place, only surviving witness. Gallipoli, not only the people of Turkey, in the collective memory of all communities has been an important side of the Çanakkale War and a sad place. It is a place of gratitude and pride as a defense of a earned homeland and the struggle for existence. At the same time because of the heavy losses caused by the parties in the war as well as representing the least war in remembrance of the importance of the lost, was recognized as a respected geography for being the tomb of the lost. In addition to its historical importance, natural beauty, vegetation and characteristic topography make Gallipoli special. The dramatic history and nature of Gallipoli are undoubtedly the founding elements of the National Park’s identity. The spatial and visual language of the field should be simple, calm and soothing to deepen the experience of the visitors, to feel the nature and to enable emotional and intellectual concentration. Interventions to the area should not compete with the rituals and accepted symbols of Gallipoli’s special history, and they should enrich their experience.
